WORLD HEALTH DAY
This World Health Day, The Caring Family Foundation is supporting our guardians of the rainforest by providing essential medical assistance to isolated Indigenous communities, empowering them to continue their fight against deforestation and displacement.
World Health Day, celebrated annually, highlights global health issues, raising awareness and mobilising efforts to support vulnerable populations with limited access to healthcare.
In line with this, we are proud to announce that The Caring Family Foundation and Associação Médicos da Floresta have launched a state-of- the-art mobile Medical Bus in Brazil.
Following advice from the Indigenous Health Secretary (SESAI) from The Ministry of Health (MS) the Medical Bus will respond to specialist medical needs identified in Indigenous communities. Consisting of 38,000 individuals in 2025, the bus will offer vital health assistance within these communities.
ABOUT THE MEDICAL BUS
The Medical Bus is equipped with solar panels that power its entire electrical system, including medical equipment, mobile device charging, consultation rooms and air conditioning. It features advanced technology such as electrocardiograms, dental X-rays, ultrasound machines, ophthalmology equipment and a fully equipped laboratory.
A volunteer medical team - including pediatricians, ophthalmologists, dentists, gynaecologists, nurses and specialists - provides essential healthcare services like pediatric care, women’s health exams, ophthalmological treatments, dental services, emergency GP care, heart diagnostics and immediate blood and other tests. These are vital services that are often unavailable in the communities.
In 2025, the Medical Bus will visit nine Indigenous communities residing in over 1 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest, offering healthcare to anyone within these communities in need.
This marks only the beginning of the Medical Bus initiative, with much more to be done in the journey ahead.
EARTH DAY
At The Caring Family Foundation, our mission is to protect and restore the natural world while uplifting the communities that call it home.
This Earth Day, on April 22nd, we celebrate our planet and the impact we're making together. We've breathed new life into this vital ecosystem, planting over 2.3 million trees in Brazil to date, restoring 1,619 hectares of the Amazon rainforest and granting over £2.5 million to organisations reforesting and restoring the Amazon.
Alongside our partners, Associação Médicos da Floresta, Ecoporé and SOS Amazônia, we provide crucial medical support, with our programmes encompassing agroforestry training and implementation for these indigenous communities. The programme also includes female leadership and tree planting initiatives, as well as the construction of tree nurseries and water wells.
As our projects expand, so does our impact. Guided by the One Health framework, we work to protect forests and the communities that safeguard them - ensuring a thriving future for generations to come.
