The Caring Family Foundation (TCFF) is proud to announce its 2024 ‘Food From the Heart’ Campaign in partnership with The Felix Project, London’s largest food redistribution charity. This initiative seeks to address child poverty, currently affecting over 4.2 million children in the UK—equivalent to 1 in 4—according to End Child Poverty UK.
Tackling food insecurity is a central focus of The Caring Family Foundation's mission, ensuring that no child goes hungry. By working with The Felix Project, TCFF pledges to distribute 300,000 meals across London by the end of 2024 and an additional 700,000 meals to those who need them most in 2025 (totalling 1 million meals as part of the commitment). By the end of 2025, this means TCFF will have provided over 3.5 million meals through its extensive network of schools and partners across the UK and Brazil. Of this 3.5 million, 2.7 million will have been distributed in the UK alone.
This winter, The Caring Family Foundation's campaign addresses the critical issue of child hunger and food insecurity, a problem that intensifies during school breaks. According to the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG), 900,000 school-age children in England living in poverty miss out on free school meals. This issue is then particularly heightened over the two-week holiday when children are not in school and therefore miss out on hot meals provided by schools. By combining efforts across the hospitality sector and leveraging its platform, The Caring Family Foundation is actively raising funds for its 'Food from the Heart' campaign, aiming to expand its reach and make a greater impact in the fight against child hunger and food insecurity across the UK. Through these efforts, The Caring Family Foundation also hopes to inspire others leaders in the hospitality industry to participate in similar activities for this festive season.
As part of its broader seasonal campaign, TCFF will also continue to support Surrey Square Primary School, a long term recipient. At Surrey Square Primary School, 25% of the children are living in Temporary Accommodation, and 84% belong to families facing significant economic challenges, as indicated by the lowest deprivation index.
On 5th December, volunteers from Richard and Patricia’s hospitality group (Bill’s, Caprice Holdings, and The Birley Clubs), will come together to create a memorable day at Surrey Square Primary School, fostering a sense of togetherness whilst bringing joy and happiness. There will be festive entertainment and delicious lunches for children (provided by Bill’s). TCFF believes that these special events and moments during the festive season can have a lasting impact on children and families, creating cherished memories and a sense of joy and support that resonates beyond the holiday season.
On 24th November, TCFF will also host a captivating Festive Wonderland at The Dorchester. Imagined by Tatiana Kharchylava, Creative Director of The Birley Clubs. The event unites two iconic London hospitality institutions to combat child poverty and food insecurity, where 100% of the ticketing proceeds will go directly to the Foundation. On 14th November, Annabel’s (part of The Birley Clubs) will reveal its enchanting festive façade, featuring a magical snow globe that symbolises a return to childhood wonder and innocence. Through these efforts, TCFF ensures that this holiday season is filled with joy, generosity, and hope for vulnerable children. TCFF is driven by the belief that every child deserves nourishment for physical and mental well-being, educational success, and personal development.
The Food From The Heart Campaign was established in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, where Richard and Patricia Caring committed their hospitality group to provide One Million and One Meals to NHS key workers and families most affected during this difficult time. The success of this kick-started ongoing initiatives from the Foundation to support children and families in need, striving to make a longer-term impact.
“At The Caring Family Foundation, together with The Felix Project, we believe that every child deserves access to hot, nutritious meals daily. This isn’t just about food—it is a commitment to tackle child poverty and food insecurity and bring hope to those who need it most. With the support of The Felix Project’s network, we will reach those children facing these challenges right here in our communities. Every meal we deliver is a step closer to our mission of a world free from hunger, harm and hurt.” says Richard Caring, Co-Founder of The Caring Family Foundation and Co-Chairman of The Birley Clubs.
“It is a scandal that so many children across London and indeed the entire country face hunger on a daily basis. We know 1 in 8 working London families are using a food bank once a week to help them put food on their table, that could mean around 169,000 families in need of regular food support. The Felix Project is doing all it can to provide food and support those frontline organisations who are working to feed people through these difficult times. Donations like this from The Caring Family Foundation are vital and we are so grateful for their incredible generosity.” says Charlotte Hill OBE, CEO of The Felix Project.
Join us in our efforts to alleviate food insecurity and make a lasting impact on children’s lives this festive season.
