On World Hunger Day, 28th May 2025, The Caring Family Foundation is proud to announce a major milestone in its partnership with London-based charity The Felix Project: the delivery of 1 million meals to children and families across London, since November 2024. In just a short time, this landmark achievement has reached over 53,000 people so far, and was made possible through the combined efforts of dedicated volunteers, community leaders and supporters. It marks a significant step in the Foundation's commitment to help end child hunger, especially during periods when school meals are unavailable.

Having reached 1 million meals with The Felix Project in London, The Caring Family Foundation has now delivered over 3.5 million meals across the UK and Brazil to date, alongside distributing more than £5.2 million in project funds and grants. This support extends beyond food provision, enabling a wide range of services:

  • Educational workshops
  • Youth clubs
  • Marketplaces
  • One-to-one support for families

Fighting child poverty lies at the heart of The Caring Family Foundation’s mission, with a deep commitment to tackling the root causes and harsh realities of childhood food insecurity in both the UK and Brazil. At its core, the Foundation stands for the belief that no child should go hungry, and that access to nutritious food is a fundamental right - not a privilege. With the summer holidays approaching, it is estimated that over 645,000 children will face food insecurity in the UK, making the Foundation’s mission more urgent than ever. Studies have consistently shown that nutritious school meals enhance attendance, concentration, and behaviour, thereby boosting students' motivation and capacity to learn. The Caring Family Foundation works to not only feed children but to invest in their long-term wellbeing and potential. Surrey Square Primary School - where over 80 percent of families face economic challenges - exemplifies The Caring Family Foundation’s commitment to providing direct, community-based support, with a partnership spanning five years so far. The Caring Family Foundation’s co-founder, Patricia Caring, visited the school in South London to personally distribute food - meeting families and children directly supported by the initiative.

“Seeing us reach one million meals in under a year is another step towards our mission of ensuring no child goes hungry,” said Patricia Caring. “We are aware of the ongoing challenges many families face during these difficult times and remain committed to providing year-round access to nutritious food for those who need it most.” Matt Morden, Head Teacher of Surrey Square Primary School, said:

“At Surrey Square, 25 percent of our families are in temporary accommodation and some do not have access to proper cooking facilities. Since partnering with the Caring Family Foundation, we have seen a wealth of changes within our community. We’re able to provide them with a weekly take-home meal and fresh, nutritious produce - and we know that when children have access to balanced meals, they’re better equipped to thrive at school and build brighter futures.”

Kameir Phillips, parent at Surrey Square Primary School, added:

“The Caring Family Foundation has funded our monthly market place and our takeaway meals on a Tuesday evening, and it's had such a great impact. We’re able to help families save money with a weekly meal and it allows them to [have more to] spend and show up more for their children.”

One pupil at Surrey Square Primary School said “The Caring Family Foundation helps us at our youth club on Fridays. My favourite food they give us is chicken and rice -we get proper vegetables and get to do fun activities like drawing.” The visit also launched two new Caring Family Foundation-branded delivery vans. These vehicles will play a vital role in the Foundation - alongside The Felix Project - of delivering millions more meals and reaching thousands more families across London.

“These vans are more than just vehicles - they are a lifeline,” said Patricia Caring. “They will bring food directly to families in over 100 communities across London, increasing our reach and impact.”

Charlotte Hill OBE, CEO of The Felix Project, added:

“I cannot tell you what reaching the milestone of one million meals with the Caring Family Foundation means to The Felix Project, and most importantly to the communities we serve. Holidays are a really tough time for families, particularly those who will be getting free school meals during term time. These vans help us reach those families who would otherwise struggle to put food on the table [during the holiday].” The 1 million meals milestone is part of the Caring Family Foundation’s broader ‘Food from the Heart’ campaign, which provides meals during school holidays and supports monthly community food markets stocked with fresh, nutritious produce.

The Foundation’s holistic model focuses on long-term empowerment, dignity, and opportunity for vulnerable families. Through school-based partnerships, local delivery initiatives, and grassroots support, The Caring Family Foundation is building a future where every child has the nourishment they need to succeed.
