FOOD FROM THE HEART
The Food from the Heart campaign is committed to providing practical support and nutritious meals to children facing poverty and food insecurity and in 2022, through partnering with a large network of schools and food banks nationwide a total of 378,000 meals were distributed to 34 schools and 17 food banks in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, and Liverpool.
This year The Caring Family Foundation has focussed its efforts on providing 1,700 meals daily to children across favelas in São Paulo, Brazil. In the UK, throughout November and December 2023, the Food from the Heart campaign has been partnering with South London schools and charities supporting children who are, alongside food insecurity, facing homelessness as they continue to live in substandard or temporary accommodation. As the cost-of-living crisis continues to impact more and more families throughout the winter period, in November 2023 The Caring Family Foundation launched the ‘Caring at Christmas’ Grant to provide vital funding to charities supporting children who are facing food insecurity across London.
THE WORK WE'VE DONE SO FAR
With your support so far we have already delivered 2,273,000 meals to children and families in the UK & Brazil facing food insecurity by:
Developing partnerships with charities and schools across Brazil and the UK, distributing over 1 million further nutritious, healthy and child friendly meals to children facing food insecurity and holiday hunger.
Providing localised and holistic support for hard to hear communities through the funding of breakfast clubs and supplying freshly prepared meals for children facing destitution to take home.
Launching the ‘Caring at Christmas’ grant to provide vital funding to charities supporting children who are facing food insecurity across London across winter.
Establishing community transformation projects in São Paulo which will supply over 320,000 meals to families living in hardship.

Provide localised and holistic support mechanisms to tackle the root causes of child poverty
When I first created the NGO Instituto Cuca I thought it would just be about providing shelter and food, but I realised it goes much further than that... it's about love, affection. It's about the psychologist, the mother, the counsellor; I listened to every unshakeable story, but I couldn't show my weakness to those people who were more vulnerable than me. The institute is my support, my encouragement, my belief that there are better human beings....That's why today I want the institute to be more than a plate of food, I want it to be a school, a home, love, affection and I'm very proud of it and I ask God every day that they don't let me close my eyes before I finish opening the institute , to see it finished, with children studying, teenagers in the labour market and evolving. That's my dream, that hunger will end, that inequality will end, that never again will someone say tell me where you live and I'll tell you who you are, that's it.
