Reforestation
At The Caring Family Foundation, we believe Indigenous peoples are the true guardians of the rainforest. The ongoing deforestation of the Amazon rainforest, releasing CO2 into Earth's atmosphere and driving global warming, is a challenge that affects us all. Our work in reforestation remains a founding mission of the Foundation, proudly reaching a milestone of over 2.3 million trees and seedlings planted in the Amazon rainforest supporting 25,200 Indigenous people to date.
Ecoporé
Working together with Ecoporé - an organisation located in Rondônia, the state considered to be the most devastated in the Amazon - we support reforestation, restoration, seed collection and practices that guarantee the sustainability of the people living in this region. Through our partnership, we have contributed to the preparation of 240,000 seedlings and the purchase of 2.4 tonnes of seeds for planting, transforming the lives of at least 250 families across five territories. We also facilitated the training of 305 seed collectors, enabling incomes to be generated by Indigenous families, and funded 30 Indigenous communicators to help broaden outreach within local territories.
Associação Médicos da Floresta (AMDAF)
In 2024, we expanded our work into healthcare, partnering with Associação Médicos da Floresta (AMDAF) - the ‘Doctors of the Forest’ - to bring specialist medical aid to isolated Indigenous communities.
With our support, AMDAF offer services ranging from paediatric care to women's health, dental exams, ophthalmology and general healthcare, taking their skills into the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
In April 2025 we launched a state-of- the-art mobile medical bus in Brazil, which will offer specialist medical support to an estimated total of 38,000 individuals in 2025.
